Getting there

Getting there

Weißensee has no U-Bahn or S-Bahn station of its own; it is reached by tram and bus from Berlin Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg and Lichtenberg.

Tram M4 is a MetroTram (24-hour service, more frequent than the numbered lines) running between S+U Hackescher Markt and Falkenberg (some journeys end at Zingster Str.). In Weißensee it calls at Weißer See, Albertinenstr. and Antonplatz — roughly the direct route from central Berlin to the lake.

Tram M13 runs the other way across the district, between Virchow-Klinikum (Wedding) and S Warschauer Str. (Friedrichshain), calling at Landsberger Allee/Weißenseer Weg on its way through.

Trams 12 and 27 both start at Pasedagplatz in Weißensee. Line 12 runs from Pasedagplatz to Am Kupfergraben in Mitte, calling at Weißer See, Albertinenstr., Antonplatz, Behaimstr. and Friesickestr. along the way. Line 27 runs from Pasedagplatz through Lichtenberg and Köpenick (via S Köpenick) to Mahlsdorf-Süd.

Buses 255 and 259 also serve the lake. The 255 runs between Schwarzelfenweg and U Osloer Str., stopping at Rathaus Weißensee and Weißer See. The 259 runs between Aubertstr. and Stadion Buschallee/Hansastr., stopping at Berliner Allee/Rennbahnstr., Rathaus Weißensee and Weißer See.

For the lake itself: get off at the tram or bus stop "Weißer See" on Berliner Allee. Antonplatz, one or two stops further on the M4/12 lines, is the district's other hub, next to Kino Toni.
